Beloved husband of Irene Grindlay

sadly passed away on Wednesday 27th May at St Johns Hospital
Friends are invited to the Main Street of West Calder on
Thursday 4th June at 11.20am to see Robert depart for a private family service.
The cortege will then travel via Calderburn Road, Polbeth where friends are also invited to the street.
This Sunday, 31st May, we will be joining the new moderator of the Church of Scotland for a service at 10am
.He has invited all congregations in the Church to join with him in celebrating the Church's birthday.

This week's 'exercises' have us journeying with the apostle Paul, with all the hardships and difficulties he endures, but with his sure and certain knowledge that God travels alongside him to support him.

Following on from last week's exercises of women mentioned in the bible who were in Jesus' family tree, the first exercise this week looks at family, followed by an examination of scripture readings showing attitudes towards Debt; Worries; Disease; and Bereavement

This week, Andre is giving us the stories of the lives of women in the bible whose contemporaries may have thought shameful but whose faith in God gave them strength and resilience in times of crisis and come through with honour.
The Church of Scotland are delighted to announce a special 'Heart and Soul 2020' event will take place online on Sunday 17th May starting at 2pm - and lasting till around 4.20pm.
Although the current restrictions around Covid meant the event in Princes Street Gardens had to be cancelled, a number of the features planned could be transferred into an online format and will be available to view at www.churchofscotland.org.uk and live on the Facebook page fb.me/churchofscotland.
The event begins with a replay of the service of installation for the new Moderator, Rev Dr Martin Fair, then features a mix of worship, music (with a special piece led by Fischy Music) stories and interesting and topical 'In Conversation' guests. In one session, Hugh Pym will be in conversation with Professor Jason Leitch and Viv Dickinson from CrossReach discussing how they have been tackling Coronavirus and how their own faith has helped them. Very Rev Susan Brown will also be in conversation with Ross Greer MSP and Tara Shannon from CoSY discussing climate justice.
You can also follow the special service on 16th May in the Assembly Hall to install Rev Dr Martin Fair as Moderator of the General Assembly in the physical presence of only a few people. However, everyone can watch the service online at www.churchofscotland.org.uk
