February 2023
A Message From Our Minister: February 2023
Dear Friends
February is the month of love. So often when we hear the word ‘love’, we think only about romantic love, the kind of love that is celebrated on St Valentine’s Day. But actually, love is so much more than that. Love is found in friendship, love is found in families, love is found in the church, love is found in faith. And all these different types of love, should be celebrated every single say, not only on special occasions. Because I can’t imagine anything more special than to love and to be loved.
If we really want to understand what it means to love, we should look to God. Because it’s God’s love for us that put us here on earth, it’s his love for us that saved us all in Jesus, and it’s his love for us that will keep us close to his heart, even once our life here on earth has ended.
In 1 Corinthians 13 the characteristics of true love is described: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres…”
February is also Stewardship month in our churches, and as we think about how we spend our TIME this year, let’s make sure to make time to love, to love like that – but not only in February, but every single day of our lives. Because in a world where everything is limited and increasingly more expensive, love is the one thing that you will get more of if you give it away, and it doesn’t cost anything!
May God bless you all.
Much love,
Nanda
